Abstract

ORIGINAL TITLE: Quelles mesures de protection des personnes atteintes de la maladie d’Alzheimer?

The number of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other neurodegenerative diseases is growing with the ageing of the population. However, they raise new questions because the change in mental faculties is gradual and definitive in the present state of knowledge. Many patients, although suffering from cognitive difficulties, are still able to participate in decision-making. The objective of the study is to measure the adequacy of the various existing protective measures for this type of disease. It shows that modern measures of conventional or weak judicial protection are still perfectible, and traditional judicial measures have the advantage of graduating the protection adapted to the evolution of the state of health of the person suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, although it proves to be ineffective.
