Gleby eemskie i wczesnovistuliańskie w lessach w Polsce

Czarnoziemy wykształciły się pod roślinnością stepową, która porastała obszary lessowe Polski na początku interglacjału eemskiego oraz we wczesnej części holocenu. W klimatycznym optimum interglacjału eemskiego roślinność stepowa ustąpiła miejsca zbiorowiskom leśnym, pod którymi nastąpiła całkowita degradacja czarnoziemów, prowadząca do powstania gleb płowych. Ich rozwój został przerwany wraz z ustąpieniem drzew iglastych. Zimny i wilgotny klimat początku zlodowacenia vistuliańskiego – sprzyjający intensywnym procesom denudacyjnym – stał się bardziej kontynentalny, co sprzyjało powstawaniu pseudomorfoz po lodzie szczelinowym oraz sedymentacji cienkich pokryw młodszego lessu I. Warunki klimatyczne w okresie optimum brörupu, będącym stosunkowo ciepłym interwałem, były zbliżone do tych panujących we wczesnym eemie lub w okresie borealnym holocenu i sprzyjały ponownemu rozwojowi czarnoziemów, który jednak dwukrotnie został przerwany.
