ORIGINAL TITLE: La stratigraphie des loess de la dernière période glaciaire
Loess deposits belonging to the Baltic glaciation form three stratigraphic series. The lower series rests on Eemian interglacial soil and belongs to the Szczecin Stage. The brown chernozem covering it developed during the Brørup interstadial. The middle and upper loess series correspond to the Main Stage. The fossil soil separating them formed during the Paudorf interstadial.
Complete stratigraphic profiles of the loess are observed only in the eastern and central parts of the Polish upland belt. Towards the west, the individual loess series become progressively thinner. Disconformity surfaces frequently appear, and the loess profile becomes limited and incomplete.
