ORIGINAL TITLE: Compte-rendu des excursions du 19 au 30 septembre 1958
As part of the field excursion during the periglacial symposium, Pleistocene deposits were presented at several sites within the extraglacial zone of Poland. Their origin, lithology, and periglacial transformations were discussed in detail. The discussion focused on the genesis of sands, loess, and ice-wedge structures, the differentiation between glacial and periglacial sediments, and the interpretation of processes such as solifluction, cryoturbation, and cryotectonics. Emphasis was placed on the need for standardised research methodologies, including granulometric analysis, paleopedological studies, and radiocarbon dating, to enhance the understanding of Pleistocene depositional environments in Central Europe.
