ORIGINAL TITLE: Le periglaciaire de haute montagne dans l'Ossola (Alpes Italiennes)
The Ossola is the watershed of Toce, a tributary of the river Tessin, which is localized between the Valais and the Tessin. This region is formed by fractured metamorphic rocks. The slopes and the differences in altitude are very important. In this high mountain, there are periglacial floors, in which the morphodynamic activity is dependent on bioclimatic floors and any other parameters, such as the slope, the exposition, etc. We can study two morphodynamic floors:
- the cool periglacial floor, between 2200 and 2800 m, is characterized by the presence of terracettes, screes, the action of solifluction and avalanches on the slopes;
- the cold periglacial floor, above 2800 m, is characterized by the action of cryoturbation; gelifluction and screes.
