Abstract

The paper discusses the occurrence and characteristics of periglacial phenomena in the Netherlands during various stages of the Würm glaciation. Based on field studies and literature, the author identifies widespread frost-related structures in several stratigraphic horizons, suggesting at least two major cold phases. The study describes frost wedges, pseudo-frost wedges, solifluction features and wind-faceted stones, emphasising the importance of aeolian and solifluction processes in surface formation. It also examines changes in wind directions during the Late Würm. The findings indicate a strongly continental climate during the coldest Pleistocene phases.
