The article discusses the concept of "periglacial" and its advantage over "cryonival" in periglacial geomorphology. It presents temporal and spatial divisions of periglacial zones, describes three main periglacial provinces, and highlights the importance of integrating geomorphological, biogeographical and archaeological data for their delineation.
