Abstract

In the Kamienna River valley near Wąchock, there is a morphological level known in the literature as a fluvioglacial terrace of the Middle-Polish glaciation. Studies have shown that this level is truncated and overlain by slope congelifluctional deposits from the last periglacial period. A similar situation was observed in Styków. It is therefore possible that the higher terraces in the Kamienna valley are denudation levels rather than true terraces. The example provided demonstrates that studying terraces using morphographic methods without knowledge of the geological structure is insufficient and can lead to erroneous conclusions.
