Avant-garde against avant-garde

Abstract

  _{In this paper, new media art, which is fundamentally associated with technology and science, will be discussed as a contemporary form of artistic avant-garde. In my argument, I will focus on its connections to earlier manifestations of avant-garde mindsets and attitudes, that is, to historical avant-garde and neo-avant-garde. I will also address the role of the art world and its institutions in establishing their mutual relationships.}
