Periglacial morphogenesis in the river valleys of the Łódź Plateau and its differentiation in time and space

Periglacial morphogenesis had played the most important role in the development of fluvial relief and geology in the Łódź Plateau. Kataglacial stages of Saalian, early Vistulian and upper Plenivistulian were especially important erosion periods while the most intensive deposition took place in the middle and early stages of upper Plenivistulian. Effectivity and character of periglacial processes were mainly dependent on the relief and dimension of the drainage basins. This means that typically local conditions may dominate the role of climatic agents. As the example of such interrelation let be simultaneous occurrence of both meandering (Ner river valley) and braided (Mroga and Wolbórka river valleys) channel pattern in Łódź Plateau during the late Vistulian.
